Hello! 👋
On Thursday night I spent a good hour watching the final episode of Tom Kerridge’s BBC four-part show ‘Saving Britain’s Pubs’.
It may be sometime since you last received an email from Pub Quiz HQ, but thank you very much for subscribing my newsletter.
It’s been an eye-opening watch. I worked in pubs for a couple of years in my late-teens and early twenties and many of the problems which were emerging then appear to have continued.
In the years since my stints behind the bar, an estimated 15,000 pubs have called ‘last orders’ for good.
The program highlights throughout just how vital good pubs are to our communities, especially during a year like the one we have just faced. It’s definitely worth looking up on iPlayer if you get the chance.
I couldn’t help dreaming of the next time I can wander in to my local for a cold pint of Guinness…

Which Liverpool comedian, known for his quick delivered said ‘‘My act is very educational. I heard a man leaving the other night, saying: 'Well, that taught me a lesson.’”
Answer at the foot of this email!
Here’s what’s happened over the previous seven days…
The Autumn return of ‘The Tuesday Night Quiz’ came to a close on Tuesday evening with winners ‘Cabin Fever Crew’ taking home the now famous Silver Tankard with a close-fought victory over their competitors. 🏆
It was a fun night, always completely free to play along - and the generous players raised some vital funds for FareShare along the way. A £300 total for November, coupled with the funds raised for the NHS Charities Trust back in Spring, takes the amount raised to almost £1,500 🙏
Incredibly generous and all for two vital causes!
Thank you very much for playing along.
